Colorado Building Plans works with residential general contractors on remodels, additions, ADUs and custom homes. We can step in when your client needs drawings, help develop the project alongside your team, and provide anything from a straightforward permit set to a more complete construction package.
Just as important: if you bring us the client, we respect that relationship.
This one is pretty simple.
If a general contractor refers a homeowner to Colorado Building Plans, that contractor remains our contractor relationship for the project.
If the homeowner later asks us for recommendations for other contractors, we don’t hand them a list of your competitors. We let them know that the contractor we know for their project is the contractor who referred them to us.
Your lead stays your lead.
One of the biggest problems with the traditional design-bid-build process is that the contractor often doesn’t see the project until the drawings are nearly complete.
By then, the homeowner may have designed something they can’t afford—or something a contractor would have approached differently.
We prefer to get the builder involved earlier.
That gives you an opportunity to:
Better communication during design usually means fewer surprises during construction.
Not every contractor needs the same thing.
Some builders want a clean permit set so they can get the project approved and work through certain details in the field.
Others want a more developed construction package before work begins.
We can tailor the deliverables to the project and your preferred way of building.

Good for: experienced contractors who prefer flexibility during construction.
A more developed drawing package with additional details and coordination to help with estimating and construction.
Good for: projects where pricing and field coordination benefit from more information before construction.
Help the homeowner understand the design before anyone starts swinging a hammer.
Good for: additions, exterior changes, kitchens, major remodels and projects where homeowners have difficulty visualizing drawings.
Some contractors prefer to handle permitting themselves. Some homeowners want to do it. Others want us to manage the process.
